Payments

Take every payment at the table

Split the bill the way your guests ask. Each part is paid by card, in cash or with Tap to Pay, charged to a hotel room or put on a company account.

Switching to Resto is free, and you can cancel at any time.

Split the bill

Split the bill four ways

Table 12 owes 23.010 kr. You pick the split that suits the table. If you split the rest again, the paid checks stay paid.

  1. 1By item

Each guest pays for what they ordered

Move items to a new check. Each check is paid on its own.

  2. 2Evenly

    Everyone pays the same

Enter the number of guests. Resto splits each item into equal parts, and you move one part to each check.

  3. 3By amount

The guest chooses how much to pay

Type the amount the guest pays. The rest stays open until it is paid.

  4. 4By seat

Each seat gets its own check

Each item gets a seat number when you take the order. At payment, each seat gets its own check.

Card on terminal

Integrated with payment terminals

Tap “Card” and the terminal shows the same amount as the check. When the guest has paid, the check is marked paid.

  • Resto runs on an Android card terminal, or on a tablet linked to a terminal.
  • With Tap to Pay, your phone takes the card. More about mobile POS.
  • A terminal with 4G keeps taking cards when the internet goes down. More about working offline.

Payment methods

Every payment method is on one screen

You pick a payment method for each check. A guest can also pay part with one method and the rest with another.

  • Card

The guest pays on the card terminal.

  • Cash

Resto shows the change to give back and opens the cash drawer.

  • Tap to Pay

The guest taps their card or phone on your phone.

  • Gift card

Resto and Dineout gift cards. The POS shows the balance first, and the guest pays the rest another way if it is too low.

  • House account

The company gets an invoice later. More about invoices to companies.

  • Room charge

A hotel guest charges the check to their room.

  • Pay by link

The guest gets a link by SMS or email and pays on their phone.

  • Your own method

Add your own method in the back office, for example a voucher.

Pay by link

Send the guest a payment link

Make a payment link on the POS and the guest pays by card on their phone. It suits phone orders, catering and deposits.

  • Teya sends the link by SMS or email. You can also copy the link and send it yourself.
  • The payment shows on the check as soon as the guest pays.
  • You choose the amount and when the link expires: after 1, 3, 7 or 30 days.

Common questions about payments

If the answer is not here, email us at hello@resto.is.

Which card terminals can I use?
Resto works with terminals from Teya and Adyen, among others. See all integrations on the integrations page and the devices on the hardware page.
Do I need to change acquirer?
Not if your acquirer works with Resto. You keep your current agreement and agree the card fees directly with your acquirer, as before.
Can I charge a bill to a hotel room?
Yes, “Room charge” is on the payment screen. Resto connects to the Apaleo hotel system. See Resto for hotels.
Where do I see the day’s payments?
In the end-of-day report in the back office. It groups payments by method and shows voids and refunds on their own lines. See accounting.
