QR code ordering

Guests order and pay from the table

The guest scans the QR code on the table, then orders and pays on their phone. You see the order on the POS with the table name, and a server brings the food.

Switching to Resto is free, and you can cancel at any time.

Setup

One code on every table.

You pick the tables in the back office, print the labels and put one on each table.

How you draw the floor plan
  1. Pick the tables

The tables come from your floor plan, grouped by room. You can leave out single tables, for example at the bar.

  2. Print the labels

You download the labels as PDF, for one table or many at once. Each label shows the code and the table name.

  3. Put a label on each table

The guest scans the code with the phone camera, and the menu opens with the table already chosen.

Step 1 / 4 · Menu

The menu opens on the phone.

The guest scans the code and the menu opens in the browser. No app to install and no sign-in.

  • The menu is in Icelandic and English.
  • You choose which items, categories and modifiers show in QR ordering.
  • Sold-out items are marked.
  • Modifiers work as they do on the POS.

Step 2 / 4 · Payment

Paid when ordered.

The guest reviews the order and pays by card on the phone. Then they see the order status and when the food will come.

  • Card payments go through Straumur or Teya.
  • The guest can pay with your gift card, for part or all of the order.
  • The guest can get a VAT invoice by email, also in a company's name.

Step 3 / 4 · POS

You accept every order.

A new order shows on the POS with the table name. A staff member accepts it with a time, or rejects it.

  • When you reject an order, the guest gets a refund automatically.
  • On a busy night you can pause new orders for 15, 30 or 60 minutes.

Step 4 / 4 · Kitchen

The table name on every ticket.

An accepted order goes to the kitchen like an order from the POS. The ticket shows the table name, so the server knows where the food goes.

  • On the kitchen display the ticket is marked as paid.
  • Each dish goes to its own station, for example grill, cold kitchen or bar.

Common questions

Can the guest pay at the end, like at a normal table?
No, a QR order is paid when it is placed. If a guest wants to pay at the end, the server takes the order on the POS or on a phone.
What if the guest wants to order more?
They tap "Start a new order" on the status page or scan the code again. Each order is paid on its own and goes to the kitchen on its own.
Can QR ordering have a different menu?
Yes. For each item, category and modifier you choose whether it shows in QR ordering. Automatic discounts, such as a happy hour, can also apply to QR orders.
What equipment do I need?
Printed labels on the tables and a POS that takes the orders. The kitchen uses a kitchen display, printers or both.
