Printers

Each dish prints at its own station

The bar gets the drinks and the grill gets the hot food. The cold kitchen gets the salads. You set the rules once and Resto splits every order.

Switching to Resto is free, and you can cancel at any time.

Rules

You decide once where each item goes

You set one rule per category in the back office, and Resto sends each item to the right station.

  • A rule can include or exclude both categories and single items.
  • An item that matches no rule goes to the fallback station, so every dish reaches the kitchen.
  • You can turn a rule off without deleting it, for example for the summer.

Setup

Works with your printers

Resto works with the most common kitchen and receipt printers from Epson, Star Micronics and Partner Tech. The POS finds them on your network, and you add one in seconds.

  • You give each printer a name everyone understands, such as Grill, Bar or Receipts.
  • The paper is 80 mm or 58 mm. The POS works with Epson and Star printers over the network or Bluetooth.
  • Epson
  • Star Micronics
  • Partner Tech
  • and other ESC/POS printers

Receipts

The receipt shows your kennitala, VAT number and VAT by rate

You enter the business details once in the back office. The name, address, phone, kennitala (company ID) and VAT number then print on every receipt.

  • You can put the venue logo at the top and a short message at the bottom.
  • Each device has a default receipt printer. The receipt prints with one tap.
  • The cash drawer connects to the Epson or Star printer and opens for cash payments.

Common questions

Can I use the printers I have now?
Probably. Resto supports Epson and Star Micronics printers and other network printers that use ESC/POS, for example from Partner Tech. Send us the model and we test it before you switch. See hardware.
Do I need a kitchen display to use printer routing?
No. The rules send items to stations, and each station can have printers, a kitchen display or both.
What happens to an item that matches no rule?
It goes to the fallback station you choose. With no fallback station, the item does not print in the kitchen. That is why we always recommend a fallback station.
Do online orders print in the kitchen too?
Yes. Orders from the web, the kiosk and QR codes follow the same rules as orders from the POS. See online ordering.
Can the AI Assistant set up the rules?
Yes. Tell the AI Assistant in the back office where the items should go. It shows the change first, and the change applies when you approve it. See the AI Assistant.
Do tickets print when staff take orders on a phone?
Yes. The POS on a phone sends the order to the kitchen like the tablet does, and the ticket prints at the station. See mobile POS.

Want to see printer routing in your kitchen?

Book a demo. We go through your stations and the printers you have, and show you how orders split.

We read every request and get back to you ourselves. We also answer in the evening and at the weekend.
