The databases

Two Icelandic databases.

Generic ingredients have standard nutrition values. Branded products from producers are found by barcode.

  • When you add an item in the back office, you search both databases, and the name, allergens and nutrition fill in.
  • When a value is missing, Resto marks it unknown, so you know what to check.

Recipes

Nutrition from your recipe.

You tell the AI Assistant the ingredients of the dish and the grams of each. It finds them in the databases and works out the values per 100 g. The values go on the item when you approve them.

Common questions

Who is responsible for the nutrition values?
The venue is responsible. The source data is a starting point. Check the values before guests see them, and update them when the recipe changes.
Do I need the AI Assistant to use the data?
No. In the back office, you pick a product from the databases and its values fill in the product form. You can also enter the values yourself. The AI Assistant does the calculation from a recipe.
What happens if an ingredient is not found?
The AI Assistant lists it as a missing ingredient and leaves it out of the calculation.
Why are energy and salt calculated?
The food data stores no energy value, and it gives sodium, not salt. EU Regulation 1169/2011 defines both by an exact formula. Resto calculates only these two values.
